Mahindra has launched multiple face-lifts of this compact SUV since 2010 to 2020. Finally, it got major update to generation 2 in 2020. Now Mahindra is coming up with 5 door compact SUV after more than decade of its launch.

Mahindra has finally upgraded from Halogen head-lamp to LED head lamp which can be clearly seen in spy-shot. Mahindra has provided new design front Grill and Bumpers. Side mirror has same classis design which is bold square big piece or art. It has also retailed long foot rest all the way from front to rear wheel. I has also not changed the rear bumper design.
Wheel-base:
Mahindra has increased wheel-base as Mahindra has added two extra doors. Rear door will have pillar-mounted door handles. Mahindra will also provide 18 inches allow wheel with all new design. Thar currently best fits 255 / 65 R18 front tires and 255 / 65 R18 rear tires.
Top view:
New design will probably come with hard top only. New design will have sunroof. It is to be noted that it will get normal sun-roof and not be panoramic sun-roof. Which will definitely makes interior of the vehicle upmarket and will add to feel good factor for Mahindra customers
Exterior Design:
With wider looking body, and longer wheel base exterior design of vehicle it has been totally equipped to get more luxurious looks like Jeep Wrangler, which will make this compact or not so compact SUV look better than its competitors like Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha. It also gets strong competition from other compact SUV segment. With longer wheel base and wider body it will definitely improve its road presence. Thar 5 door interior:
Mahindra will upgrade vehicle’s steering wheel same as Xuv700 which will make driving experience smoother . It’s expected that new design will get Digital Cluster and all new 10-inch touch infotainment system. Which will be huge upgrade. On back seat it will get automatic AC, push start button, rear, front armrest, Rear Camera, rear power window, rear AC, electric sunroof, android auto, wireless-charging and many more which are currently missing. In top model it will also provide dual tone interior. Thar 5 door engine specs:
It will get 2- liter turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both engines should be offered with both 6-speed manual transmission and automatic transmissions. Which is not the major change from present specifications but as this is bigger wheel base Mahindra is expected to so some tweaks in engine for better output.
Thar 5 door price:
Expected price for New 5 door Thar is expected to start from Rs. 15 Lakh (ex-showroom). It will come with multiple variants and prices for top variant may go unto Rs. 24 Lakh (ex-showroom) Delhi.
Thar 5 door launch:
Mahindra Thar 5 door edition is expected to the launch for Indian Market in March 2024.
